**Contest now closed: Congrats to Jessi, Katie & Callie, our 3 Freggies winners.**

Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber would be proud of this post.

For almost a year now, I've been telling you how my health has changed simply by doing something most of you are already doing: Fresh vegetables & fruits. In fact, I want to write a diet book called "How I stopped eating Tator Tots everyday and start eating vegetables and *surprise* lost weight." I think it could be a best seller.

Brilliant, I know, right? It reminds me of the real bestseller called "In Defense of Food" that has my favorite byline ever: "Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants."

Remember, I wasn't always this way. I was the girl in preschool that refused to eat my cooked carrots and peas, so the little girl next to me, Lindsey, ate them for me. We are still friends to this day. God bless that little Lindsey. Is it any wonder that that same, sweet kindhearted four year old grew up to be a missionary who travels the globe? Her picture is on my fridge - and even though we are both almost 30 years old, I only see someone who is four.

Back to the veggies: after years of slowly putting on more weight, and feeling sluggish and depressed, well.... I reached a point of despair. I knew if I didn't get this under control now, I would never get it under control.

Thus, cucumbers. Carrots. Celery. Grapefruit. Apples. Pears. Bananas. Kale.

This afternoon I threw some ground flax seed on my yogurt. I laughed out loud as Brandon Heath's song played, "I'm not who I was..." My diet has drastically changed over the past year. I am so thankful. Not to overspiritualize things, but I feel like God did it for me.

Anyway - I love passing along a few of my "finds" to you - in case you find yourself on this journey with me.

Todays find? Freggies.

Freggies is the answer to this question: "How can I get affordable organic produce delivered right to my door?" Freggies!

I found out about Freggies through a friend here at Spirit, because 99% of us are all on a health kick lately. Its good accountability, I'll tell you that much! On days where I want to cave and eat 10 doughnuts, I see someone else walk by with their protein shake, and I head the other direction. Crisis averted.

The owner of Freggies (Jerrod) has an amazing story of overcoming cancer - and he attributes his recovery to Jesus and a better diet. Sounds like my kinda guy! He and his wife are committed to helping others have a healthier lifestyle - I just love this mission, and I feel myself following in that direction. Jerrod says that starting Freggies was a very spiritual experience for him - he knew how much God had helped him take control over his health and life with fresh nutrition - and he wanted to make a way to BRING that nutrition to others. Literally, to their door.

I logged on to Freggies.com and saw that the prices are extremely affordable, and had my first batch delivered the other day. SO simple, and it was actually really fun because I ordered a few fruits & veggies I don't normally order. Its so convenient - and I find that our family eats healthier. Well, Olivia and I do, anyway. We're still workin' on Joel. Lucky guy can eat whatever in the world he wants and still looks great. He's got some good genes.

And YES - the title of this post is "free veggies" - I spoke with Jerrod and he's agreed to give away THREE $50.00 giftcards to www.freggies.com! So simply leave a comment here - lets do comments that keep us motivated to get (or stay) healthy. Maybe its a quote, or a scripture you know - whatever inspires you, leave it in the comments section and I'll choose three winners. Remember to leave an email address so I can contact you if you win. No email, no freggies. :-)

Sarah

I like this scripture. It helps me when I have no motivation to exercise, eat right, feeling down, ect.

"He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength." Isaiah 40:29

I REALLY want to win this!!! I am going to try out freggies regardless if I win or not. What a great idea, especially for busy moms! By the way, it is funny that you mention running. I am going to take that up as soon as I have my baby (I am six months preggo). I can't wait to hear all about your experiences. I want to say that you have REALLY helped me through your blog. I was one of the winners of that Juicing, Fasting, and Detoxing for Life book and I cannot tell you how much it has helped me! Thank you so much for all you do! You are an inspiration.

"The Bible that's in tatters usually belongs to the person whose life isn't." -Charles Spurgeon

I thought I'd change a couple words to apply more directly to this post:

The juicer that's burnt out usually belongs to the person whose body isn't.

I found that quote years ago, and it is so true.

This verse is always such a good one to remember in regards to taking care of our bodies.

"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body," (1 Cor. 6:19-20).

Just reading your blog gets me motivated Sarah. Especially after seeing how good you look last week! I started forcing myself to eat carrots this week. I cut out meat too and feel so much better!! I just never know which veggies to try and how to prepare them.

I don't run to lose weight or look better in a swimsuit, I don't run to win races or get medals, I run because God gave me the ability to.

I feel the same way about eating the fruits (and veggies) of this Earth, why eat the processed stuff if God created the best food there is?

I would LOVE to win this, but I'm just happy that you brought Freggies to my attention. I'm wondering why I haven't heard about it until now!

We all need a few more veggies in our diet. Maybe this would get me to eat them.

I was so excited to hear about this! I have finally convinced my husband that a juicer is worth it and I am trying not to bite the financial bullet with buying produce all the time. This is a great help!!!

Maybe I can get my four year old to eat something besides broccoli (yes, that's about the only fruit or veggie she likes)

Hi All-
Jerrod from Freggies here. Just wanted to say I enjoy reading your comments. Romans 12 is clear that we have to make a choice to not conform to this world. I know it is tough because we have be eating pretty healthy for nearly 10 years now (since I was diagnosed w/terminal cancer). Anyway, kudo's to you for making the choice for your family to have a healthy home! We are here to help and hopefully make it a bit easier. You can also check out an ebook that my wife Nikki and I wrote about our story: How God saved Jerrod Sessler from terminal cancer

We have three little ones and attend Mars Hill in West Seattle.

Right now with where I'm at health wise and body image wise I have Galations 5:22-23 posted on my cupboard. "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (underline, bold, italicize "self control"). Against such things there is no law."

This verse seems to be my lifeline as I try to show my 2 1/2 year old the fruits of the Spirit throughout the day as well as maintaining the self-control that I seem to be weak in when it comes to the food I eat and how I feel about myself. I guess I'm a work in progress, what can I say.

Thanks for keeping us on the healthy track!

One of my favorite scriptures..

Ephesians 2:10 "For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."

God prepared IN ADVANCE. I just love this. On those hard days to get up and go to work, stay on track with my diet, and life the Life God wants me to live, I am reminded of this. In advance, God prepared us.

Love it, love it!

I just got back from a week at Summer Camp with 230 students. We had an awesome speaker named Jeremy Kingsley for the week and this quote comes from him.

"We don't read the Bible to finish. We read the Bible to change!"

Todat is the first day of a fresh start. Someone gifted me with 5 weeks of Nutri System food and I am on a quest for health.

I collect quotes so it's always hard to pick a favorite but here's one: "The best antidote to despair is purpose." Dr. Laura

Similarly is, "The best way to help ourselves is to help someone else." Dr. D.G. Amen in "Magnificent Minds at Any Age"

Thanks for the heads-up on freggies. Why didn't I think of that?!

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jerimiah 29:11

This year started off with a trip to a womans retreat where I found God again. He has shown me that He has a plan for my life, I pray his will be done in all my prayers it is the hardest thing for me to do because I always want to be in control. Giving God His control back has made my life so much easier. He has mended my heart and shown me what true love is. He taught me how to forgive and He gave me his peace and confort. He holds me in his arms and Loves me unconditionally. Praise God!

Why can't chocolate be a vegetable? My husband didn't eat his chocolate Easter bunny for a couple of weeks. The temptation was too strong one evening when he was away. He came home to just the base of the bunny, maybe 1/4" high. As he stood there staring at me wide-eyed, I laughed hysterically.

These are great quotes already posted. I'll be saving them for encouragement in my own struggle to lose weight.

Oh man, I hope that I am not too late. I love my veggies, and hummus, and rice chips, and healthy food for the most part. I can't say that I eat that way for every meal, but I really try with my yummy oatmeal using unsweetend almond milk, stevia, and cinnimon. Love the ground flaxseeds too though, in a lot of stuff. Sounds like I got it down, but I don't entirely and still strive to do better, especially as an example to my kids. RRFelton5@msn.com.

I may be too late... but I heard you talking about freggies on the radio the other day and I really want to try it! My sis Callie is definitely an inspiration to me! Whenever I don't feel like working out, I know that she will be at the gym... saving a step for me! I also just got a juicer after about a year of her telling me how much better she feels when she juices - I think you introduced her to juicing, right? It's so much easier to make healthy choices when you're not alone!

Anyway, even if I am too late, I am enjoying reading your blog! I finally caught up with Angie, so now I need something new to read :)

I'm not sure whether I'm too late or not? But, either way, I wanted to share this...when I read it the other day, I emailed it off to some friends, too.

I have a devotional book by Corrie ten Boom, and here is a part from one day that she shared on prayer:

A mother saw her little boy sitting in the corner of the room, saying, "ABCDEFG." "What are you doing?" she asked. "Mom, you told me I should pray, but I have never prayed in my life and I don't know how. So I gave God the whole alphabet and asked Him to make a good prayer out of it."

That boy understood a little bit of what Paul says in Romans 8:26 - that the Holy Spirit Himself helps us to pray.....

"Likewise, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings to deep for words." Romans 8:26

Lord, what a joy that you do the job and together with you we are able to pray and live for your honor.
